It’s amazing what happens when a group of people get together, with a goal in mind and the willingness to try. Over the years, Incredible edible has started many sites, from the early stages of the Whitaker park site, to the Helmshore community allotment. Through time and the changes of the town, sites have come and gone, been moved and changed! Here you will find some pictures of sites from the past.
“Incredible Edible Rossendale has gone from strength to strength since it was launched several years back. It just goes to show the power and pull that community ventures can have, and I for one would like to see more initiatives of this kind across the area.
Incredible Edible promotes healthy living and local sustainability, all within the context of a community-centred and community-focused project. Food grown by local people, for the enjoyment and benefit of local people.
I think the aim of self-sufficiency is certainly one we would all aspire to, and I fully support Incredible Edible Rossendale for contributing to it in their own way. It could only be for the betterment of the community and for Rossendale more widely if Incredible Edible were to expand, grow and bring more people round to their way of thinking about food and health.”
A quote from Graham Jones MP in 2013
The annual Harvest festival at Whitaker park, with live music, local business stalls and fun! Started in 2013 in conjunction with friends at Whitaker park, Rawtenstall. The event was held with the aim to encourage Valley residents to grow and pick their own fruit, vegetables and herbs on their own land, or, on community land throughout the borough.
Here is Helmshore allotment, started by IER in 2015 and later given to Helmshore primary school and other volunteers. Back in 2016, the allotment was entered in to North West In Bloom in the RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood section and got the Level 4 – Thriving’ commendation!
